Entrepreneurial Thinking in Action Summer Camp
July 2-5 or July 9-12: Grades 9-12

The Entrepreneurial Thinking in Action Camp helps participants develop their entrepreneurial leadership by delivering unique experiences that will activate their creativity, build their confidence, advance their teamwork skills, and grow personal resilience.

Red Light, Green Light
July 2-5: Ages 9-11

Join us as we explore the physics of stop and go! Students will be challenged to engineer rockets that launch, vehicles that race, roller coasters that loop, and a Martian spacecraft that lands safely. Participants will employ three-dimensional modelling using Tinkercad, and 3D print parts for their designs.

The Amazing Race
July 2-5: Ages 9-11

Pack your suitcases and grab your passport…we are off on a virtual race around the world! Student teams will use Makey Makey, 3D modelling/printing, and computational thinking to solve challenges with regional themes. This is an offering that emphasizes technology, design, and geography. Travel safe, explorers!

Debate Camp Canada
July 22-26: Grades 5-10

Flex your analytical muscles! This 5-day camp will teach students the art of academic argumentation. The benefits of debate reach far beyond simply being able to formulate a coherent argument. Students not only develop increased problem-solving abilities and critical thinking skills, but they also learn how to think on their feet and maintain confidence under pressure. Students will participate in interactive workshops where they will develop their skills in case construction, refutation and counterpoint techniques, parliamentary interruptions, tools for effective delivery and efficient research skills. Campers will have the opportunity to practice these skills as they participate in multiple rounds of debate  each day.

Theme Park Engineering
August 19-23: Ages 14-17

Theme parks earn billions of dollars in profits annually, and the industry relies on engineering innovation to create a welcomed retreat for thrill-seekers. Get a behind-the-scenes look at your favourite theme parks, including Disney, Six Flags, and Universal Studios as we investigate the physics of attractions and themed set design. Participants will use 3D printers and a laser cutter to fabricate their own creations, and learn the art of animation and materials engineering.

Digital Creations with Raspberry Pi and Python
August 19-23: Ages 11-17

Build exciting digital mashups with the Raspberry Pi! This innovative, credit-card-sized computer allows you to connect circuits and sensors to build all kinds of fun games and electronics projects. Code a game with flashing LED lights, build a pressure sensor to catch intruders, and even make music! Participants will learn to connect electronic components (jumper wires, LEDs, sensors, resistors) to their Raspberry Pi and learn Python programming basics to code their creations.

Web Design for Social Enterprise
August 26 -30: Ages 12-17

Social enterprises endeavour to maximize profits while positively impacting society and the environment. Modern enterprises rely heavily on websites to advertise their products and services. Students will use Design Thinking methodologies to understand client needs and develop an engaging website to advertise their own innovation. The course will employ Wix and HTML/CSS programming, and key design concepts include semantic element, embedded media, selectors, the box model, wireframes, frameworks, and an introduction to responsive design.

Drones and 3D Modelling
August 26-30: Ages 14-17

Have you ever wanted to fly and design a drone? This exciting, inquiry-based camp will provide students with an opportunity to learn about drone applications, flight regulations, conceptual design, and engineering principles in a safe and positive environment. 3-D printers will be utilized to design drone models using Tinkercad, and Parrot Mambo quadcopters will be coded with Tynker, a creative computing platform. Junior pilots will perform search and rescue missions as drones are navigated through obstacle courses. Participants will keep their own drone at week’s end, and be provided a wealth of resources for independent exploration.

WIC Grade 7 Summer Camp
August 19-23

The WIC Grade 7 Summer Camp is an outstanding opportunity for incoming WIC Grade 7 students to make connections with future WIC students, our teachers, and staff. Participants will be familiarized with some of the practicalities that will help acclimatize them by learning the building layout, the school timetable, opening their locker, and how to tie a tie. They will also participate in a variety of activities that will allow participants to gain an understanding of our culture and what makes the College unique.

WIC H.I.T.T Volleyball Camp – Beginner
August 26-29: Grades 7/8

Grade 7 and 8 WIC students, get ready for volleyball tryouts! This camp, geared towards participants who have limited to no volleyball experience, will focus predominantly on basic volleyball skills. The camp consists of four 3-hour sessions with professional coaches who will focus on honing participant’s individual skills, combination drills, as well as transition skills and play as a part of a team.

WIC H.I.T.T Volleyball Camp – Advanced
August 26-29: Grades 8/9

In Grade 8 or 9 and have some volleyball experience by want to really develop your volleyball skills? This camp will focus largely on playing as a team. Working with a team of professional coaches, participants will spend four 3-hour sessions focusing on key individual skills, combination drills, transition skills, as well as playing as a team.

WIC H.I.T.T Volleyball Camp – Senior High
September 3 & 4: Grades 10-12

This 1.5-day camp is tailored to the higher level volleyball player in Grades 10-12. Through three 2.5 hour sessions with professional coaches, participants will advance their volleyball skills by focusing on a combination of individual and team drills.
